Leigh Kennedy is NERA’s National Cluster Development Manager with a focus on working collaboratively with regional clusters to build an national hydrogen technology cluster for Australia that can be promoted around the world.
Before joining NERA, for almost the last decade, Leigh worked with Austrade’s international network and government partners to drive Austrade's global resources and energy investment attraction and facilitation strategy and assist clients (developers, capital and technology companies) deliver on their Australian expansion plans. Aligned to many global companies transition to becoming green and announcing net zero emission targets, the focus honed-in on renewable energy and hydrogen investment opportunities. Working collaboratively with all state and territory governments along with key Australian Government agencies clients Leigh built relationships with investors across the industry - developers, capital and technology companies – and across the world. His interest in hydrogen stemmed from working with the Japanese industry consortium, Victorian, Japanese and Australian Governments for several years to progress the development the Hydrogen Energy Supply Chain pilot project in Victoria. Now there are over 60 hydrogen projects in development – over half have international investor involvement.
